To be held from January 12 to 14, 2023, the Asia-Pacific Digital Rights Forum will feature panel discussions and breakout sessions tackling key digital rights issues, with the aim of creating spaces for collaboration among changemakers in the region.
Digital rights actors from Indonesia stressed the need to collaborate with a wider network of organisations outside Jakarta and learn from the success stories of past human rights movements to strengthen digital rights advocacy in the country.
During the forum held last November 22 and 23, participants stressed the need for civil society groups to take on a more active role in policy discussions to ensure that internet freedom and digital rights are safeguarded.
The two-day forum had a strong emphasis on the need for cross-sectoral collaboration online and offline to address shared challenges. Participants say this is crucial to strengthen advocacy on the many rights issues today.
During EngageMedia's Thailand Digital Rights Forum held last October 29 and 30, participants discussed the challenges in the country's digital rights landscape and how changemakers can strengthen advocacy around their work.
