New video platform MediaCMS now live on Github

Since our founding in 2005, EngageMedia has aimed to support freely accessible media infrastructure on the web, and provide community-created alternatives to corporate-controlled platforms. In line with this goal, we have partnered with software development company Wordgames to develop MediaCMS, an open-source content management system (CMS) based on a commonly supported, open-source web framework (Django) and well-known programming languages (Python and Javascript).

MediaCMS is a content management system to host your own video site, as well as supporting other rich media content. MediaCMS currently supports the Engage Video platform. EngageMedia’s commitment to MediaCMS is part of our larger commitment to open source software and media freedom.

Digital Safety in the Asia-Pacific

EngageMedia has and continues to be involved in various projects on digital security in the Asia-Pacific. In these initiatives, there is a strong emphasis on the use of and training on free and open-source software.

Transmission

EngageMedia co-founded the Transmission network in 2006. The objective of the network was to make independent online video distribution possible using Free and Open Source Software by building the necessary tools, standards, documentation, and social networks.

Plumi: Open Source Video

From 2005-2020, EngageMedia produced and maintained Plumi, a video-sharing web application, in partnership with various developers. Plumi was a Free Software video-sharing web application based on the Plone content management system.
