Digital Rights in the Asia-Pacific 2024 (DRAPAC24) aims to foster resilience and solidarity within the digital rights community through a two-day gathering to be held in Taipei, Taiwan on August 18-19, 2024, before the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF) on August 20-23. Through the gathering, we aim to stimulate collective brainstorming and forge alliances in response to the evolving digital threats for a unified response to shared challenges in the region.
Developed in collaboration with IOTA Kreatif Media and Annas A. Aziz, Taksa is an interactive story game that invites players to re-evaluate whether critical thinking and digital literacy are truly detrimental to curb disinformation.
This project investigates the practice of fact-checking in Indonesia to understand how "facts" are produced through the practise of fact-checking, revealing how certain "facts" become accepted as common-sense "truths" while others do not.
The Youth Communications and Advocacy for Internet Freedom project aims to expand awareness and engagement with digital rights issues, particularly among youth sectors, and develop a stronger digital rights field through effective knowledge sharing, outreach, and engagement.
To build on the momentum from the DRAPAC23 Assembly, we invite you to join us for the DRAPAC Series of events that aims to generate and sustain conversations about the challenges and opportunities for the region with regards to human and digital rights in the networked society.
Tech Tales Youth aims to support a new group of young filmmakers and visual storytellers in the Philippines and Thailand to produce short films about human rights in the digital age.
Ahead of the 2023 elections in Thailand, EngageMedia, Asia Centre, and the Chiang Mai University-School of Public Policy present four key digital rights issues that political parties must include in their agenda to ensure a well-functioning democracy where citizens can hold their government accountable.
The report breaks down the technical aspects behind internet shutdowns and cites examples from incidents reported in South and Southeast Asian countries. It also includes actions that individuals and civil society members can take in the broader movement to safeguard and uphold freedom of internet access and digital rights.
EngageMedia will kick off the year 2023 with the Asia-Pacific Digital Rights Forum, a three-day regional forum that will create online and physical spaces for changemakers to further discuss and collaborate on solutions to the region's most pressing digital rights issues today. The three-day regional forum on January 12 to 14, 2023, is the second group of events leading up to the Asia-Pacific Digital Rights Festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in May 2023.
EngageMedia is set to host four in-person forums in the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia to create spaces and opportunities for collaborations and knowledge-sharing among human and digital rights advocates.
The September 2022 report looks at the ecosystem that supports the localization of digital security tools and guides into five major Southeast Asian languages, and assesses whether, and to what extent, these resources are localized and kept up to date.
