Far Eastern University (FEU) Film Society brings its annual film festival, Piyu, I Love You, to a wider audience once again this year through Cinemata. Streaming from February 17 to 24, 2025, this year’s theme, ‘Love Outside the Box,’ challenges traditional romantic tropes and explores fresh perspectives on love in Filipino cinema.
As the driving force behind this festival, FEU Film Society, a student-led filmmaking organization at Far Eastern University in the Philippines, fosters a space for emerging filmmakers to present bold and experimental works. Piyu, I Love You highlights the creativity and storytelling talent of its members, who are redefining love on screen by exploring alternative narratives and pushing the boundaries of genre conventions. Romance remains one of cinema’s most enduring genres, offering both comfort and opportunities for reinvention. These films delve into the ways love is represented in Filipino culture and cinema, inviting audiences to reconsider preconceived notions of romance, relationships, and emotional connections in today’s world.
Cinemata is honored to support the FEU Film Society by providing a platform for student films to reach a broader audience in the Asia-Pacific. Their works reflect the complexities of identity, gender, and emotional depth in contemporary relationships—stories that might not always find space in mainstream media but are vital in expanding Philippine cinema.
The 11 short films, which were screened in person earlier this month for Valentine’s Day, are now available on Cinemata.
