Are you a civil society activist, researcher, or public interest technology educator interested in AI accountability and governance?
The Pulitzer Center, alongside partners Al Sur, Code for Africa, Digital Futures Lab, EngageMedia, and LCFI, will be holding a series of sessions this June and July 2025 as part of its Peer Learning Circle training.
The free, six-hour sessions will explore AI accountability through real-world examples, examining how it interacts with society, and assessing how it might fall short of the hype. The peer learning circle will be a multidisciplinary space for knowledge, starting with the basics of AI: covering history, an introduction to machine learning and deep learning, and how it can be harmful. Participants will also explore accountability pathways, from bottom-up to top-down AI governance mechanisms. There will also be opportunities to ask questions, trade tips, and discuss among participants and facilitators.
The Peer Learning Circle will be held in Africa, Latin America, and South and Southeast Asia time zones, with Tomasz Hollanek and Maya Indira Ganesh of LCFI, University of Cambridge, as the main facilitators. EngageMedia will support the conduct of the South and Southeast Asia peer learning circle, which will be held on June 25-27, 2025.
