Call for Applications: “Tech Tales: Films about digital rights in the Asia-Pacific”

EngageMedia invites filmmakers, video journalists, and animators across the Asia-Pacific to produce short films on important digital rights issues happening in our region, as told with our voices and from our perspectives.

Filmmakers will be awarded between USD 3,000 to 5,000 each for film production. EngageMedia, along with an Advisory Board, will be selecting up to eight candidates who will each be producing a short film (6 to 12 mins) on digital rights. In particular, we are looking for documentaries, fiction, animation, and other short narrative video productions.

The works produced will be part of the July 2021 film collection, “Tech Tales: Films about digital rights in the Asia-Pacific”. More details on the timeline and specific processes will be discussed with successful candidates.

To apply, please accomplish the form below by 20 January 2021, 23:59 Bangkok time (UTC+7). Successful candidates will be notified before the first week of February 2021.

Stay tuned to the Tech Tales project page for more updates and answers to frequently asked questions. If you encounter any errors in the application form, please reach out to us.

Note: This post and form have been edited to reflect the new deadline and to provide more clarity on budget requirements.
