Mong Palatino, one of the advisors for RightsCon 2015, is the Philippines’ first blogger-turned-legislator and the youngest elected representative in the legislative body. He is currently the regional editor for Southeast Asia at Global Voices Online. RightsCon is the premier summit series bringing together civil society, engineers, activists, lawyers, companies, and governments on the subject of the Internet and human rights. RightsCon happens for the first time in Southeast Asia in Manila, The Philippines, from March 24-25, 2015.

My Week at the Gender and Technology Pop-up Institute

In early October, the Tactical Technology Collective announced its Gender and Technology Pop-up Institute and invited women and transgender activists to apply. More than 350 applications were received from all over the world. By end of the same month, it was announced that around 60 people were selected to be participants, and I was one of the lucky bunch!
