Anna Helme of EngageMedia has been awarded a Dunlop Asia Fellowship by Asialink, a non-academic centre of The University of Melbourne and an initiative of the Myer Foundation, who promote public understanding of the countries of Asia and creates links with Asian counterparts.

Rogue Education Conference, Workshops and Screening

Come to the opening of “Institutions, Capitalism, and Dissent: A Rogue Education Conference” at Trades Hall, Melbourne from 6:30 PM on 14th September. The evening will be a casual affair, featuring films, a few laughs and plenty of free food. EngageMedia will present a screening of Rocking the Foundations – an amazing documentary account of the NSW Builders Labourers Federation in the 60’s and 70’s, along with shorts.

Released! Plumi – Free Software Video Sharing Platform

EngageMedia are very excited to announce the first release of Plumi, a free software video sharing Content Management System. Plumi enables you to create a sophisticated video sharing site out-of-the-box. In a net landscape where almost all video sharing sites keep their distribution platform under lock and key, Plumi is one contribution to creating a truly democratic media.

FOSS Codecs Research

EngageMedia is currently conducting a research project into Free Open Source Software (FOSS) video codecs. We may also engage in a bit of experimental development work as we go along.

We will be coordinating this project, but would love to engage other groups working around FOSS video software in this process.

Melbourne EngageMedia Screening

EngageMedia will be putting on screening in conjunction with Plug-In TV (Channel 31 Melbourne). We will be screening highlights of documentary, experimental and fiction videos from the website, and doing a short presentation of the project.
